The Art of Goal-Setting

By Brenda Diaz May 13, 2021

Is there an area of your life you want to make changes and or achieve goals? Do you ever set a goal and think you are going to crush it, but give up on it? Based on my experience, each time I have broken down the goal into smaller steps and took consistent action- I reached the goal. Of course, some goals will take longer than others and even five or ten year goals are broken down into smaller, manageable steps. One magical factor to goal-setting is to celebrate each milestone. The celebration can be a simple treat or of a larger scale. If you ever need an extra push, set an intention, or recite the same one daily.

Goals are the roadmap of success. What are SMART Goals?

S-Specific (Be as specific as possible: who, what where, when, why)
M-Measurable (How many)
A- Achievable (Make it a challenge, but achievable)
R-Realistic (Ensure the goal is relevant to you)
T-Time-bound (Place a deadline on your goal)

An example is: I want to create a habit of meditating every morning. Begin to break it down, by creating a SMART goal.

The SMART Goal is: I want to meditate for 5 minutes daily for 21 days.

S- The desire to be more at peace
M- Everyday
A - Slightly challenging, depending on morning routine
R-  Relevant if creating a mindful habit is important to you
T - 21 Days

Reward yourself after consistently completing 7 days of your goal, and so on.

An example of an affirmation for this goal would be: "I intend to make time for myself every day"

Happy Goal-Setting!

Make it a great week,
