Celebrating our Community Ladies

By Brenda Diaz March 11, 2021

It is hard to believe Covid is marking its year. Last year at this time, I had excitedly accepted a new role with my now former employer and had so many great plans with a fantastic sales team. Times were exciting… However, life had different plans. Employees were furloughed, schools went remote, daycares shut down.

Luckily, I was able to maintain my role and career, while supporting my school-aged children’s learning. However, a pay-cut, increased day care costs and Post Covid Syndrome all lumped me into another category… the "she-session" category. Reportedly, as of February, more than 3 million women have left the workforce, mostly to tend to their children and the pressures of remote learning and I, like many put a pause on my career and am one of them. Reading articles of employers being flexible warms my heart, while the harsh reality is many employers are not flexible nor understanding.

I share a small part of my personal story for those struggling with hard decisions, with juggling multiple different circumstances and also to remind everyone reading this that everyone is fighting their own battles.. a little kindness or a warm smile (under your mask) goes a long way.

When I decided to celebrate Women’s Day with one article each week, I was flooded with so many inspiring stories of ladies making a difference. We will be highlighting the special ladies the entire month, each day. Please check out our Facebook page for our daily posts, but if you miss any, there will be a collaborative article on them.

Cheers to fixing each other's crowns...

Make it a great week,

Brenda
