Great Wolf Lodge New England

Fun for the whole family!

By Valerie Geary March 16, 2016
A few weeks ago, my family and I took a trip to Great Wolf Lodge New England, located only a short 45 minutes away in Fitchburg, MA!

Upon arriving, we immediately felt like we were far away from home, ready to take in all the resort has to offer!  We checked in right away and headed to our room to unpack and change to our swimsuits, because our kids couldn't wait any longer to try out the water park! The water park is split into two sections, each with different attractions.  Both the water and air temperatures were nice and tropical-feeling.  I have to admit I was a bit nervous having one child who does not yet know how to swim.  But it turns out, there are plenty of life jackets for all the kids, lifeguards are everywhere, and the staff checks the kids height before entering to determine what rides the can and cannot go on.

There's a great mix of "big kid"/adult rides (fast water slides) and water playgrounds and small slides for the smaller kids.  There's also a lazy river, indoor/outdoor hot tub, wave pool, and so much more for the whole family to enjoy!  The water park has large restrooms, showers, a place to grab a quick bite to eat, and a tiki lounge/bar. So, yes, you can have an adult beverage at the waterpark too!

After drying off and taking a break, we explored the Howling Timbers Play Park, which includes mini-golf, bowling, two ropes courses (one for little kids and one for big kids and adults).  The resort also has and extensive arcade, a kids spa, gift shop, and more!

We ate all of our meals onsite - there's a pizza place, a sit-down restaurant, a bar area for quick sandwiches, a fast food stand in the water park, and a Dunkin' Donuts for a quick breakfast and/or coffee!

Great Wolf Lodge also has an extensive indoor arcade, the interactive MagiQuest game, Lazer Frenzy, stores for souvenirs and more. We spent most of our time at the water park, at the arcade, or at the Timbers Play Park. There was just so much to do everywhere! Even in the lobby they often have staff offering free face painting and balloon animals, which were a big hit with my kids!

Every evening they have storytime which is a great way to wind down from a VERY busy and fun day!

All in all, we truly had a blast.  It was a fun and easy way to "escape" for the weekend, and we'll be back soon!
